TORC Welcomes Husqvarna as 2014 Series Partner and Naming Sponsor

The Husqvarna Showdown in Charlotte To Be Held April 25 and 26

Dana Point, Calif. – Jan. 13, 2014 – TORC: The Off-Road Championship, the nation’s premiere short-course, off-road racing series, has announced Husqvarna as a 2014 Series Partner as well as naming rights sponsor for the TORC race scheduled for April 25 and 26, 2014, at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“Last year we partnered with TORC to see if traction could be developed in partnering dealers with racing fans at a grassroots event. Stepping out of a traditional dealer showroom experience and giving customers a chance to engage with products in a non-traditional way was positively received,” said Jim Parello, Director of Marketing, Husqvarna.

Because of last year’s successful partnership, Husqvarna chose to expand its involvement with TORC to include category brand exclusivity, event activation, promotional offers, television broadcasts, social media efforts and other TORC series related touch points to continue engaging passionate racing fans with the Husqvarna brand.

Sponsorship of the Charlotte TORC race, now known as “The Husqvarna Showdown in Charlotte,” includes event branding as well as significantly increased media exposure and hospitality offerings, among other benefits. Additionally, Husqvarna will continue to sponsor drivers (and brothers) Jarit and Jesse Johnson this season.

“The Husqvarna brand represents durability and performance, values that align well with the TORC organization and TORC series fans. We are thrilled to have Husqvarna’s increased series support as well as for the race being held in the city of Charlotte, their corporate headquarters,” said TORC President BJ Birtwell.

TORC: The Off-Road Championship will hold seven events across the United States this year, with NBC Sports providing television coverage and a behind-the-scenes docu-reality series. The 2014 event schedule features races at the following venues:

April 5-6: Primm, NV (Primm Off Road Raceway)
April 25-26: Charlotte, NC (Charlotte Motor Speedway)
May 17-18: St. Louis, MO (Gateway Motorsports Park)
June 28-29: Crandon, WI (Crandon Int’l Off Road Raceway)
July 19-20: Bark River, MI (Bark River Off Road Raceway)
Aug 5-6: Sturgis, SD (Buffalo Chip Powersports Complex)
Aug 30-31: Crandon, WI (Crandon Int’l Off Road Raceway)

Husqvarna Team Captures Top Ten in Season Championship Points

Mooresville, NC (Thursday, October 3, 2013) –

Jarit Johnson was named the 2013 TORC Off Road Series Rookie of the Year after completing his first season in series pro-2 class of short course off road trucks. Despite missing the first two races Johnson was still able to gain enough points for the rookie of the year title. Johnson finished 10th in the overall points championship driving the #74 Husqvarna Pro-2 Truck to one podium finish and several top ten finishes. Throughout the year Johnson led laps and proved to be a tough contender for many of the series regulars. The team is now gearing up for a full time run in the 2014 season. “We got off to a rough start with some mechanical issues and just working all the bugs out of our new truck. Everything was new for me this year, new truck, new tracks, new series, everything was new and our learning curve was sharp,” said Johnson. “But we learned a lot and also showed that we can be a contender. We have a lot to build on as we go into next year. And we have a great group of sponsors us. I’m really excited about next year and what can accomplish.”

Husqvarna’s Off-Road Team is racing this weekend! Jarit Johnson in the #74 Husqvarna PRO 2WD truck and the rest of the TORC series will take on Red Bud, MI on Sunday, August 11th from 5-7pm eastern on The SPEED Channel (check you local listing for details).

Husqvarna is the Title Sponsor for the SPEED 2 hour broadcast from Red Bud, Michigan (Sunday 5-7pm EST).

Husqvarna Midwest Dealer Network Continues as Primary Sponsor of Jarit Johnson for the Battle in the Bowl at Chicago Land Speedway

Mooresville, NC (Wednesday, July 17, 2013) – Jarit Johnson Racing announced today a continued partnership with Husqvarna’s Midwest Dealer Network as the primary sponsor of #74 Pro-2WD truck. Johnson and Husqvarna will look to conquer the “Battle in the Bowl” at Chicago Land Speedway on July 19th and 20th. In addition to the truck partnership, Husqvarna will be the primary sponsor of the pro-buggy division, where up-and-coming stars like Luke Johnson will make an attempt at another win.

“We initially signed on to sponsor Crandon International Raceway and Jarit Johnson knowing that our customers in the Midwest are race fans. We had such incredible support and reaction from the fans that we felt it was important to continue our partnership with Jarit as well as USAC in a strong market like Chicago. The “Battle In The Bowl” event features off-road’s greatest racers battling the short-course at Chicagoland’s dirt track during the weekend’s “Rock, Rally and Race” weekend, which features the Traxxas TORC off-road racing series on both Friday and Saturday evening. Johnson is in his first-ever racing season in Pro-2WD truck series and his newly formed team is finishing races and building momentum. The Chicago short course dirt track fits Johnson’s driving style and the team feels good about the upcoming race.

“We are still getting this truck dialed in and learning a lot,” said Johnson. “But I feel good that we are getting there and making solid progress each time we hit the track.
